Mid-America Secures Dollar Tree at Ogden Mall in Chicago’s West Suburbs

Richard Spinell, Principal of Oakbrook Terrace-based Mid-America Asset Management, Inc., announced that Dollar Tree is expanding its presence in the West Suburban Chicago market with a new 9,000 square foot store at Ogden Mall in Naperville, Ill. Mid-America is the exclusive leasing representative of the 272,654 square foot community shopping center, which is anchored by K Mart, Citibank, H Mart and Panera Bread.

According to Mid-America Leasing Representative Katie Hennegan, who represented the landlord in the transaction, the discount retailer plans to open in July 2009, expanding its Naperville/West Suburban presence. “The current economic conditions make Dollar Tree especially relevant to consumers,” she says. “So the retailer is continuing to expand and thrive.” Representing the tenant in the lease was Kyle Mayberry of Zifkin Realty & Development.

Dollar Tree, headquartered in Chesapeake, Va., is the nation’s largest discount variety store chain selling everything for $1 or less. The company reported total sales of $1.11 billion for its fiscal third quarter, an 11.6% increase over the same quarter in 2007. As of November 1, 2008, Dollar Tree operated 3,572 stores in 48 states.

Ogden Mall is located at 1199-1295 E. Ogden Ave, on the northwest corner of Ogden Avenue and Naperville Road, and is additionally tenanted by Ogden 6 Theatres, Ginny’s Hallmark, and Cuisine of India.
